Corelatin is an independent patient-support and hospital-companion service. We are not a hospital, clinic, TPA, or insurance company and we do not process cashless claims or make medical decisions. We work alongside the hospitals and doctors you choose, providing non-medical bedside assistance, hospital navigation, appointment coordination, and real-time updates for your family. All clinical treatment, billing, and insurance matters remain with the treating hospital and your insurer or TPA.
Real-time updates are the most powerful way for an NRI to stay close to a parent's hospital care. Knowing that your parent has arrived safely, seen the doctor, and is on the way home removes a huge layer of stress. This guide explains how to set up a clear, reliable update system for hospital visits in India from anywhere in the world.
Real-time does not mean a live video from inside the operation theatre or a minute-by-minute stream. It means timely, useful information at the moments that matter: arrival at the hospital, registration done, consultation in progress, doctor's instructions, reports collected, medicines purchased, and departure from the hospital. These updates give you the full picture without disturbing the medical process.
Decide how you want updates. WhatsApp is the most common in India because it supports text, voice, photos, and documents. Email is better for formal summaries and scanned documents. Phone calls are best for urgent decisions. Many families use a family WhatsApp group so all siblings and relatives get the same information. Choose one primary channel and one backup.
Before the visit, agree on when the companion will message you. A good default is:
This routine keeps you informed without the companion constantly messaging. It also gives you a written record for the family medical file.
A picture is often more reliable than a written summary. Ask the companion to take clear photos of the prescription, test requisition, bills, and any reports that are available before leaving the hospital. Make sure the doctor's name, date, and signature are visible. These photos become the official record in your family group.
Every update should be stored. Create a simple cloud folder or spreadsheet with the date, hospital, doctor, diagnosis, medicines, and next appointment. Over time, this becomes a complete medical history. When a new doctor asks, "What medicines are they on?" or "What tests have been done?" you will have the answer in seconds.
India is ahead of most NRI countries. A 10 AM visit in India is late evening on the US West Coast and early morning on the US East Coast. A 4 PM discharge in India is afternoon in the UK and late night in California. Set expectations with the companion about which times are best for calls. For written updates, time does not matter as much — you can read them when you wake up.
If the companion misses an update, do not panic. Wait 15-20 minutes, then send a polite message asking for a status. Hospitals can be chaotic, and phones may be silent in certain areas. If the delay is longer, call the companion. If the companion does not respond, call the local emergency contact. Build a clear escalation: message, then call, then local contact, then the hospital directly.
Corelatin's companion process is built around real-time communication. For every visit, we provide:
You choose the channel — WhatsApp, email, or phone. You stay informed at every step without being on a call throughout the visit.
